Lecture by Lilly Maier:
Venue: Forum Atelier
In 1949, the Munich police cracked down on the market in Möhlstraße, which had been newly established after 1945. The market, which was particularly attractive for people living in poverty, was also run by Jewish survivors of the Shoah, so-called "displaced persons". Then as now, a critical public saw anti-Semitic attitudes and actions at work in the police operations of 1949. The historian and author Lilly Maier will give a lecture on the police operations in Möhlstraße. There will be an opportunity for questions after the lecture.
In May 1945, the end of the Second World War set a new course in politics and society that still influences the way we live together today. The program "1945-2025 Zero Hour? How we became what we are" of the Munich Cultural Department would like to commemorate this with an extensive program of events.
