Jukebox
a project by Ensemble S201
The jukebox, a music machine from the 1940s, has had a lasting impact on pop culture. It enabled people in bars and other meeting places to independently select music tracks from an extensive selection - at the touch of a button.
----
Inspired by this idea, the S201 project "Jukebox" presents a concert that celebrates the diversity of short and crisp contemporary works. Be it booming subwoofers, crazy melodies or visual elements: The challenge for the composers* is to express everything in a short space of time while staying within the usual pop music lengths.
Works by Helena Cánovas Parés (UA), Matthias Krüger (UA), Emilio Guim (UA), Sowon Yun, Lucia Kilger, Simon Bahr and Kelley Sheehan, among others, will be performed.
