Julia Zaretskaja – Sichten und Blicke

In the organizer's words:

The cycle "Sights and Views" by artist Julia Zaretskaja is about seeing, perceiving, about inner and outer landscapes.

You look, you see - your vision filters what you see and your memory blocks out everything unnecessary that disturbs your memory. In doing so, it deceives you, you may see something sharply and clearly that was never there, that you never encountered. The present restlessness, uncertainty and oppression are echoed in your own feelings and allow you to perceive the world accordingly. The pictorial worlds emerge from this reciprocal process of observing the reality around you and finding images that allow the outer gaze and the inner view to enter into a dialog.

Julia Zaretskaja graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg in 1989 with a degree in painting and graphics. Since graduating, she has taken part in group and solo exhibitions and works as an art teacher. Her works can be found in collections of museums and libraries worldwide, she is also a laureate of the "5-th Baltic States Biennale of Grafic Art" (1998). She has lived in Germany since 2018.

Viewing times for pictures in the hall and foyer: usually Mon - Fri, 11:00 - 18:00. Pictures in the hall can be viewed when it is free. You are welcome to make an appointment.
