In a kaiju-infested Japan, Hibino Kafka works in monster extermination. When he reunites with his childhood friend Ashiro Mina, a rising star of the Japan Defense Corps, he decides to pursue his once-abandoned dream of joining the Corps once again... With the help of his younger colleague Ichikawa Reno, Kafka tries to keep his identity a secret as he continues to work towards his lifelong goal: to pass the Defense Corps selection process and fight alongside Mina. Kaiju No. 8 is based on the original manga by Naoya Matsumoto. The animation is by Production I.G (GHOST IN THE SHELL), while the kaiju design is being created under the supervision of Studio Khara (Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition, Shin Godzilla Pre Visualization Development).
