Kalle Paltzer (born 1960 in Bitburg), graphic designer, illustrator and trained ceramist, has been working with the re- and upcycling of paper since 2005. Haptic-optical stimuli and sculptural presence are potentiated in the field of tension between light and shadow, which are separated by grid lines, dots, bulges or craquelées. Paltzer combines two open creative processes: on the one hand, he layers, builds up three-dimensional mass and tears, cuts and removes material. On the other hand, the sculptural design is based on the laws of nature, triggered by the gluing of superimposed materials of different elasticity and tear resistance, which tug at each other in inevitable adhesion during the drying process. They wrinkle, tear and bulge into hollow bodies or shells.
