A death, a priest, a mourning society: the funeral service for the company patriarch Gernot Steinfels, who died peacefully at the age of 94, could have gone off without a hitch. Could...
The new managing director in spe, Horst Bohne, organizes the funeral service for the company and orders a funeral wreath with a mourning ribbon on behalf of all the employees. He is unaware of the predicament this ribbon will get him into, as the text on it reads: "In deep mourning - the employees". When all the employees see the ribbon before the ceremony begins, his female colleagues are extremely confused. Why doesn't it say "... "and" female employees"? Or employees or staff members? The grieving congregation - especially the new "old white man" at the top - quickly lurches from one linguistic misstep to the next.
A highly charged cultural debate about gendering, sexism and politically correct behavior ensues, in which not even the desperate pastor can calm the waves. A highly topical comedy with a sharp eye and plenty of twists and turns!
