Kammermusik +: Szymon Nehring

Since the 2017 International Rubinstein Competition, where he not only won first prize, but also the audience prize and several special prizes, Szymon Nehring has been one of the hottest pianists of his generation. In Heidelberg, the Polish high-flyer will be performing three major works from the Classical Romantic repertoire. Beethoven's first piano sonata, dedicated to Joseph Haydn, is also known as his "little Appassionata" due to its passionate nature, while the sonata op. 31/3, composed six years later, was nicknamed "La Chasse" in France due to the wild hunt in the final movement. Both of these works establish a connection to the piano poet Schumann, whose "Symphonic Etudes", arranged as a cycle of variations, can be heard in the revised version from 1852.
