Kampf um die Erde

In the organizer's words:

How can we win the battle for the earth? The superpowers are once again dividing up the world among themselves and accepting the climatic destruction of the world for their overexploitation of natural resources. Democracies are turning into authoritarian regimes that effectively fight any resistance. What can we do in such a hopeless situation?

When the Jewish poet Alfred Auerbach staged the festival play "Battle for the Earth" in 1925 as part of the International Workers' Olympiad in Frankfurt, he was already looking for answers to this question. As a festival play for speech and movement choirs, "Kampf um die Erde" was an attempt to create a new art form appropriate for the proletarian masses.

LIGNA invites the audience to rehearse the fight for the earth together with the support of Frankfurt choirs: a different solidarity, an unusual collective action - and a new hope for a just, intact earth.
