Philosophical approaches are an integral part of anti-racist and post-colonial theory. At the same time, however, philosophy has always been a driving force behind the development and anchoring of racist thought. From today's perspective, the moral philosopher Immanuel Kant is considered by many to be the founder of modern - supposedly "scientific" - racial theory. How racist are Kant's theories? And what patterns of thought continue into the present day? Who better to answer these questions than Reza Mosayebi? He teaches at Ruhr University Bochum and researches Kantian philosophy and critical philosophy of race. In this interview, he meets journalist and author Alice Hasters (most recently: "Identitätskrise"). Together they look for a way to deal with racism in the intellectual heritage that still shapes our cultural history today.
