We look forward to our next event at DUQO on March 15 with both a smile and a tear.
On the one hand, we're excited for our first event in this club; on the other, we're saddened because it will also be our last. Like far too many nightclubs before it, DUQO will sadly have to close at the end of March.
Rising costs, gentrification, and increasing urban density continue to push clubs out of existence. While traditional cultural institutions like theaters, museums, and concert halls receive state protection, clubs are often left behind. The cultural significance of clubs for subcultures and marginalized communities is underestimated-even though these spaces consistently provide room for art, culture, and political events.
For this reason, we are dedicating this evening to the issue of club closures.
In addition to a classic techno party, there will be a supporting program addressing this topic. Stay tuned for our upcoming posts to find out more!
One thing is certain: all proceeds from the night will go to DUQO.
