Keioui Keijaun Thomas. Come Hell or High Femmes: The Dolls Rise | Performance und Film

As part of Spätschichtx Creamcake, Keioui Keijaun Thomas will perform her multimedia work Come Hell or High Femmes: The Dolls Rise on the south square of the Gropius Bau.

Through the fusion of sculpture and performance, Keioui Keijaun Thomas' Come Hell or High Femmes: The Dolls Rise explores the "Dolls" - trans women who, in Thomas' words, "are so flawless and independent that they are no longer considered real". She understands the "Doll" as a mutable figure and a powerful force of nature that is constantly evolving. By focusing on immediate forms of care for herself and others, Thomas creates connections and fosters community. Thomas' multimedia work, which consists of a three-part film and a performance, will be presented outside on the Südplatz and simultaneously in the old bookshop in the basement.

Keioui Keijaun Thomas is an artist based in New York. In her live performances and multimedia installations, she explores various aspects of Black identity formation and reflects on its emotional and economic conditions. Thomas has presented her work nationally and internationally, including at the ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival in Kuopio, Finland, the Fierce Festival in Birmingham, the Skopje Pride Queer Arts Festival in Macedonia, the Time Based Arts Festival in Portland, Oregon, and the Dweller Festival in New York, as well as at the Rapid Pulse Performance Art Festival and the Out of Site Festival in Chicago.
