As part of Kunst in der Carlstadt, galleries and institutes invite you to a joint opening weekend. We are pleased to present works by the Swiss artist Irene Weingartner and, for the first time, by the Japanese artist Keisuke Matsuura.
In Wings of the Void, Irene Weingartner's artistic work explores (empty) space and the effect of every impulse on it. Like the beating of a butterfly's wings, moods and memories also trigger impulses that are reflected in Weingartner's delicate ink drawings. The superimposition of lines creates layers and spatial depth. Their constellations and architectural structures form a map of traces of human existence.
In structures of the infinite space, Keisuke Matsuura focuses on exploring the boundaries between matter and environment, the visible and the invisible. He uses a variety of geometric shapes such as lines, squares, circles and materials and arranges them in specific spaces to form visually recognizable structures. However, these structures not only exist as physical entities, but also merge with immaterial energies such as airflow, vibration, magnetism and gravity, causing them to undergo new visual and material transformations. This transformation takes place in a realm where chance and calculation intersect, enabling the creation of new spaces and dialogues between energies.
