Keshavara

KESHAVARA evolved from a solo project by the German-Indian musician Keshav Purushotham. The initial spark was an artist residency organized by the Goethe-Institut, which took him to his second home in South India in 2013. In search of his roots, he created the first tracks of his debut album "Keshavara" in Chennai, Pondicherry and Auroville, which was released in 2016 on the label Papercup Records, which he runs together with his partner Steddy. On it, the clever sound alchemists blend kraut-pop, dub-not-dub excursions and sugar-sweet meandering melodies trained in library compositions and psychedelic soundtracks with the grooves of a rhythm section that would have felt right at home in the recording studios of funky Beirut in the mid-seventies. The result is cocktails topped with a surrealistic sugar rim with the effect of hallucinogenic jelly - music that shimmers and flickers like a mirage in the desert. In spring 2025, a new single, "Omzerzura", is released along with an opulent music video - a mixture of psychedelic desert pop and Bollywood that further condenses KESHAVARA's very own vision. At the same time, the band is successfully touring Europe for the first time, thrilling audiences with their hypnotic live shows in cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Vienna & Luxembourg. The European Tour 2025 marks a new milestone for KESHAVARA - as a transcultural pop phenomenon that transforms stage, image and music into an unmistakable world.
