West London's Kessoncoda are the duo of drummer Tom Sunney and keyboardist Filip Sowa. They move skillfully between acoustic tradition and electronics and are based on a unique blend of melodic, ostinato-influenced piano sounds and driving, precise drums. With a wide range of musical influences, Filip and Tom draw from rock, electronica, ambient, breakbeat and film music, taking inspiration from artists such as Squarepusher, Radiohead and Clark - all developed in their very special studio setup: a garden shed at the end of Tom's property.

Much like their former and current Gondwana Records labelmates, such as GoGo Penguin and Portico Quartet, Kessoncoda's music has a strong cinematic quality. Their pieces unfold like a narrative with different themes and moods, while the intensity moves in waves - breathtaking melodies build up and finally dissolve in an impressive climax.

The perfect harmony of their contrasting personalities gives Kessoncoda their special drive: the impetuous drummer Tom with his extraordinary offbeat playing meets the thoughtful pianist Filip with his melodic ostinato style. The album title Outerstate reflects both their location on the outskirts of West London and their artistic position outside of any scene - their sound was created in complete isolation. But now they are ready to share their music with the world. And all the signs are that Outerstate is just the beginning. From Tom's garden shed out into the world - Kessoncoda are ready for the big stage! Their debut album Outerstate will be released on July 12th on Gondwana Records.

Standing firm between acoustic tradition and electronica, they are founded on a unique blend of melodic ostinato-laced piano and unwavering drums. Drawing on their array of musical interests, Filip and Tom take influence from rock, electronica, ambient, breakbeat and soundtracks for film and artists such as Squarepusher, Radiohead and Clark all hot-housed in their unique studio set-up, a shed at the bottom of Tom's garden.

Like former and present Gondwana Records label mates such as GoGo Penguin and Portico Quartet there's something strongly cinematic about Kessoncoda's music, like a narrative arc which unfolds through different themes and moods, with an ebb-and-flow of intensity, as breath-taking swells of melody burst into being, eventually to resolve in a wondrous climax.

It's the perfect union of complementary personalities that gives Kessoncoda their unique drive, of headlong sticksman Tom with his extraordinary offbeat pummel, together with thoughtful keysman Filip, with his ostinato melodiousness. The title Outerstate also reflects their location on the metropolitan outskirts of West London, and equally their existence at a distinct remove from any scene, as they dreamt up their soundworld in hermetic isolation. Now, though, they're ready to go public and something tells us that Outerstate is just the beginning of something. From Tom's shed to the world, Kessoncoda are ready to go global!
