KHM-Heimspiel zeigt "Teaches of Peaches"

The film series with debut films by graduates of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) is showing the music documentary "Teaches of Peaches" by Philipp Fussenegger. Following the screening, Prof. Markus Busch will talk to KHM graduate and director Philipp Fussenegger about his collaboration with the Berlin-based artist and musician Peaches.

The music documentary "Teaches of Peaches" by KHM graduate Philipp Fussenegger celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival 2024. At the end of the festival, the film was honored with the TEDDY AWARD 2024 in the documentary film category. It is the oldest and most important queer film award in the world and has been honoring films that contribute to more tolerance, acceptance, solidarity and equality in society for 38 years. "Teaches of Peaches" was released in cinemas on May 9 this year. The KHM film series HEIMSPIEL will be showing and discussing the music documentary in the presence of director and KHM graduate Philipp Fussenegger.

Using exclusive private archive material and spectacular footage from the current "The Teaches of Peaches Anniversary Tour", the film shows Canadian Merrill Nisker's journey to becoming the internationally acclaimed artist Peaches. From the brainstorming for the stage show to the intensive rehearsals and the captivating live shows, it provides an intimate look behind the scenes of the tour. As a feminist musician, producer, director and performance artist, Peaches has dedicated over two decades to fighting gender stereotypes and cementing her status as a pop and music industry icon. Her fearless originality challenges social norms, shattering stereotypes and patriarchal power structures. With biting humor and a sharp mind, she stands up for LGBTQIA+ rights, brings questions of gender and sexual identity into focus and leaves a lasting impression on pop culture.

The HEIMSPIEL film series regularly presents debut films by graduates of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) in the KHM auditorium. Afterwards, the attending directors and image designers talk to teachers about the creation, financing and realization of their first feature-length films after graduating from the KHM.
