KINGSWOOD
Thundering, swinging space rock and glowing synth-soul: welcome to the world of Kingswood. Like the legendary Australian car of the same name, everything here revolves around what's under the hood.
Their debut album "Microscopic Wars" went straight into the top 10 of the album charts in their native Australia in 2014, followed by a nomination for Best Rock Album of the Year at the ARIA Awards. "We're a band that wants to keep changing in a philosophical way," explains singer Fergus Lineacre. "The support we've received so far has made us realize that we can actually do anything we want. It's a great position to be in."
Kingswood already played to full houses on their first European tour in 2018. The trio has gained plenty of touring experience in recent years, whether as support for AC/DC or Aerosmith, or at festivals with heavyweights such as Queens of the Stone Age.
"Nowadays you hear a lot of crap like 'Oh, rock is dead'. Okay, yes, maybe in its classic form, but the spirit of rock is not dead," says guitarist Alex Laska. Because rock'n'roll is far more of an attitude than a style. "I think people can tell that we make music that we love. If you want to stand up in front of a crowd, the quality that people respond to is always important."
