An extraordinary concert project will bring Robert Schumann's music to the stage in a new light at the Konzerthaus Berlin on May 30. With the celebrated pianist Cyprien Katsaris and the innovative ensemble SineQuaNon Berlin, an encounter between romantic depth and modern ensemble culture will be created - as rich in sound as it is programmatically bold.

Cyprien Katsaris - a living legend on the piano

The French-Cypriot pianist Cyprien Katsaris is one of the world's most distinguished performers of our time. As a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, he has set new standards - both artistically and technically. At the Konzerthaus Berlin, he now presents himself in a chamber music context and, together with the Ensemble SineQuaNon Berlin, sets a musical exclamation mark: Schumann's colorful soundscapes in the highest virtuosity and sensitivity.

Ensemble SineQuaNon Berlin - chamber music rethought

Experience the Ensemble SineQuaNon Berlin, presented by the EBWK Foundation and the Associazione Espressione d'Arte APS, in extraordinary concert programs with international soloists and impressive musical highlights. Under the presidency of Beate Kesper of the EBWK Foundation and the musical direction of Pierluigi Ruggiero, artistic director of the EBWK Foundation and musical director of the ensemble, touching and contemporary concert formats are created at the highest level.

The members of the ensemble include cellist Pierluigi Ruggiero, who is not only involved as musical director but also as an active musician. As an internationally sought-after soloist, chamber musician and composer, he has performed with orchestras in Europe, Asia and America and has received awards from the Hungarian ARTISJUS Foundation, among others. His artistic versatility and stylistic depth characterize the sound of the ensemble. The ensemble is complemented by violist Stanislava Stoykova, who is a permanent member of the Staatskapelle Berlin in addition to her solo activities and previously played in renowned ensembles such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, as well as violinist Andreas Jentzsch, also a member of the Staatskapelle Berlin, who regularly performs in Germany and abroad with the Tilia Quartet, which he co-founded, and the salon orchestra "Unter'n Linden".

In their current program - "Schumann's Rainbow of Sounds" - works from various creative phases of Robert Schumann's life are set in relation to each other. From the intimate piano cycle Kinderszenen to the colorful Märchenbilder to the large-scale Piano Quartet in E flat major op. 47, a musical arc of tension unfolds from fine lyricism to orchestral chamber music dramaturgy.
