Klezmer dances and Yiddish songs, sounds from the Balkans and Rembetiko: WEDDING KLEZMER dedicates itself to this music with passion.

The languages of the songs are as numerous and varied as the instruments. The songs are not only sung in Yiddish and Greek.

The Berlin band has been playing together for more than 20 years. Most of the musicians got to know each other in the Berlin district of Wedding at a workshop run by composer and trumpeter Paul Brody. Since then they have been playing as a quartet and quintet, developing and arranging their pieces themselves. Uwe Sauerwein, who has been active for decades not only as a soloist in the Berlin Yiddish scene but also as a singer in the Kasbek ensemble, has been with the group for three years.
