Klima – ein Thema für uns alle

In the organizer's words:

The topic of climate has almost disappeared from the public eye, as if a problem had vanished into thin air. Yet all the scientific facts show that our living conditions on the planet are under extreme threat from climate change and environmental degradation. The necessary protective measures are not being addressed by "politicians" and the vast majority of political parties.

The impetus for change must therefore come from civil society, from associations, organizations and clubs. Citizens from the cultural, democratic and environmental movements, churches and trade unions have joined forces and want to raise public awareness of the issue of climate impact and climate protection. We are organizing workshops and seeking dialogue, and want to discuss questions and concerns. In doing so, we are bridging the gap between people's concerns, scientific findings and possible measures. We clarify what lies ahead for us, what society, politicians and we as individuals should do to make our future sustainable for everyone.

In October 2025, all Hamburg residents will have the task and the opportunity to decide in a referendum on amending/improving the Climate Protection Act.

Our workshops and discussions offer the opportunity to be informed and thus make informed use of the democratic right to a referendum.

Together with STADTKULTUR HAMBURG e.V., we go to Hamburg's district cultural centers, community centers, history workshops and libraries. Climate workshops could also be held in schools, adult education centers, parishes and clubs. We talk about global warming, greenhouse gases, storms, climate protection measures, political failures and opportunities, balcony power plants, housing, transport, nutrition and what we should and can do personally and as a society to be able to live in a child- and people-friendly environment in our city and country in the future.
