Klimakrise: Vom Sterben der Gletscher

In the organizer's words:

In Peru, over 50 percent of the glacier area has already disappeared, with catastrophic consequences for people and nature. Glaciers are melting at an ever-increasing rate due to the climate crisis - and not just in the Alps. As part of the event to mark the UN International Year of Glaciers, we want to provide information about the situation in Peru and the Alps.

There will be a live link to Peru, to Paola Moschella Miloslavich from the Peruvian Glacier Institute. She will provide information about glaciers and mountain ecosystems in Peru and the consequences of glacier melt.

Peruvian photographer Angela Ponce will show impressive pictures. Both speakers will be connected online and there will be a translation into German.

We will then show the film Requiem in White by Harry Putz. The depletion of the valuable glacier resource is a symbol of the ongoing climate change and also has an impact on the activities of the Alpine Association in many ways.
