In order to effectively promote climate protection, all of society's forces are needed - including those of culture. And so it was no question for the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra in 2020 to join the Orchester des Wandels e. V. initiative as founding members: an alliance of German professional orchestras and individual musicians who, through active action, want to give the issue of sustainability a broader scope in their professional environment and at the same time raise public awareness through their artistic work.

As members of the Orchestra of Change initiative, the Duisburg Philharmonic would like to draw attention to the increasingly visible consequences of climate change, not only in the larger context of its Philharmonic concerts, but also in smaller circles - and thus in direct exchange with visitors. For this reason, the Climate Workshop has been part of their sustainability work from the very beginning, combining musical programmes organized, curated and performed by the orchestra's musicians themselves with information on the topic. While the last edition in the 2023/2024 season focused on the mountain world of the Alps, which is threatened by increasingly extreme weather conditions, the fifth edition has the motto "Man and nature in transition". As always, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra will provide a stage for the important work of regional initiatives, which will be able to present their forward-looking ideas and solutions for transformation and change at information stands at the workshop meeting from 18:00.

The musical part of the evening will be provided by various ensembles of the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra with chamber music works by Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Daniel Schnyder and others. The musicians and the environmental initiatives invite the audience to stimulating discussions about music, people and nature in transition over wine afterwards.

As part of the membership of the Orchestra of Change Initiative e. V.
