There are debut EPs that sound like letters of application. And then there are those like "Bottle of Wisdom: Tape 1" by Vandalisbin, which feel like a manifesto - fragile, demanding, vulnerable, combative. A self-positioning between soul, indie rock and poetic, queer pop that doesn't ask whether it fits in, but simply takes up space. And with a musical precision that doesn't make it seem like someone is just starting out. But rather: in the middle of a new beginning.
