"Michelangelo 550!" concludes the trilogy with which the Central Institute for Art History presents current research on the three 'founders' of the High Renaissance in Italy (previously Leonardo da Vinci, 2019, and Raphael, 2020). Particularly in view of the discussions and changes in the discipline of art history today, the question of why and how an examination of these 'old masters' should take place is posed in a new way. The colloquium presents new interpretations of selected works from all areas in which Michelangelo was active: painting, sculpture, drawing, architecture and poetry.
