Kommerz Label Night

In the organizer's words:

To brighten up the cold November, we're calling it "Friday Night Jazz" and inviting the Berlin label Kommerz Records for the evening. The brothers Lukas and Jonathan run their boutique label under the motto "progressive flexing in hip-hop and beyond" and will be presenting the new albums of artists DJ Swagger, Dim Fumes and Calida Ray in FFM in the Fall/Winter Season '24.

DJ SWAGGER (DJ set)

Bielefeld creative powerhouse with over 30 vinyl releases under his belt. In 2024, he released two albums that demonstrate his impressive talent for combining electronic sub-genres with tasteful melodies. On "Chemistry Forever" and its sequel "Chemistry Forever", he becomes the lead singer of his one-man band and plays with electronic genres (from techno to UK garage), jazz harmonies as well as alternative pop sounds (from R&B to indie). In Frankfurt, he presents his own songs and obscure records from all genres.

DIM FUMES (live)

The Berlin electronica trio Dim Fumes combines contemporary club sounds from UK garage to drum & bass with soulful falsetto vocals. A new soundtrack for a generation on a quest that often enough ends up on the dancefloor. They hark back to the sound of their youth in the 2010s, when artists such as James Blake, Jamie XX and Burial pushed the boundaries between pop and electronic music. After gigs at the Melt Festival and underground venues across Germany, Dim Fume's debut album "Liminal Clouds" will be released on December 4.

CALIDA RAY (live)

On his debut album "Between Me And Myself" (8.12. via Kommerz), the young pianist, singer and producer Calida Ray plays with psychedelic sound spheres between driving electronica and immersive jazz aesthetics. The 21-year-old new Berliner sings about his very personal coming-of-age story and addresses his ambivalent relationship to growing up in dream-like text sequences. There will be a world premiere of his live show in Frankfurt: Calida Ray on synth, keys and mic, accompanied by Leevi Lamadé alias LOUSELV on drums.
