SOS - Who will save us? The world is in crisis and with it the art and culture scene. It feels like never before have so many problems hit us at the same time: global economic crises, uncertainties caused by pandemics and climate change, political extremes in parliaments and governments, plus war in Europe and the world. Art and culture are directly and indirectly affected by this and are trying to react to it. SOS - Are we saving ourselves?
The Citizen.KANE.collective is looking for opportunities for positive change. We are convinced that we need cohesion. Solidarity locally and globally. Solidarity between artists and solidarity with marginalized groups. That is why we are inviting you to Stuttgart for the "SOS - Signals of Solidarity" conference. Together we want to learn from best practice examples and network.
Lectures/workshops:
The Center for Political Beauty is an association of over 100 artists who combine action art and political work. They describe themselves as the radical wing of humanism. Gabriela Langholf will provide insights into the current actions and answer questions from participants.
In a lecture, Veit Sprenger, part of the group Showcase Beat Le Mot, will use the example of the Berlin festival "Raven mit Long Covid" to demonstrate the possibilities of artistic participation.
Anja Haas will report on the project "Blind Date mit Stuttgart", which deals with the question of how people with visual impairments perceive their city.
The workshop "How do we fly with Tardis?" by Sandra Bringer is a practical approach to solidarity as a virtue. The combination of performing arts and political activism creates a space for socio-political negotiation processes in times of populism and violence.
Our colleagues from the Theater Centrul Replika from Bucharest (Romania) and the Teatro dos Aloés from Lisbon (Portugal) are also guests in Stuttgart.
We also welcome experts from the cooperating groups from Stuttgart and the surrounding area: Freie Bühne Stuttgart, ReCollect Collective, Wilde Bühne e.V., ZARTBITTER - Altentanztheater Ensemble Ludwigsburg, Kulturkabinett Stuttgart e.V. and STADT:ENSEMBLE Ludwigsburg.
The entire conference will be held in English. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Participation in the conference is free of charge. Binding registration at: citizenkanekollektiv@gmail.com
