Revolt in the vegetable patch: King Carrot is a crazy carrot who lives in his fantasy world and bends reality to suit him. The little carrot feels called to greater things and wants everyone in the garden to dance to her tune. She proclaims herself "King Carrot". But the other vegetables don't put up with this and arguments are inevitable. And yet all the inhabitants of the patch have the same problem, because there are all kinds of dangers lurking in the garden, such as Madame Bollieau and her cook, who are passionate about eating vegetables. Then a rabbit approaches and suddenly it's all or nothing for the self-appointed ruler.
The music from Jacques Offenbach's operetta Le Roi Carotte served as the basis for this orchestral fairy tale, from which the composer Andreas N. Tarkmann took musical passages and arranged them for chamber orchestra. A rousing lesson about power, corruption and love.
