Konklave

The Pope has died unexpectedly. Cardinal Lawrence is entrusted with the difficult task of presiding over the election of the new pope. Powerful cardinals from all over the world travel to Rome for the conclave. As the doors to the Sistine Chapel close, a power struggle ensues. Cardinal Lawrence finds himself at the center of intrigue and corruption and uncovers a secret that could shake the foundations of his faith. As the late Pope wanted to modernize the church and was considered particularly liberal, the conservative Italian Cardinal Tedesco is determined to become his successor, as are the Nigerian Adeyemi and the French-Canadian Tremblay. On the other hand, the Italian Bellini is considered the favorite of those cardinals who want to continue the liberal line. And then there is the Mexican Benitez, who suddenly appears and introduces himself as the Cardinal of Kabul. He has been secretly appointed cardinal by the late Pope. All this happens while millions of people wait for white smoke to rise from the chimney of the chapel.
