Konzert mit dem Ensemble Hevenu Shalom

In the organizer's words:

In this concert with the ensemble Hevenu Shalom, stories of assimilation and exclusion are told through the voices and music of four Hamburg composers: that of the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy; the music of the expelled Jews from Portugal who found a safe haven in Hamburg; that of Gustav Mahler, who integrated Jewish folk music into a "classical" work for the first time and that of the cantor Jossele Rosenblatt, who brought the synagogal chants and melodies to the stage.
