Indie folk pop from Hamburg
The music of Roods & Reeds, an indie folk pop project from Hamburg centered around singer and guitarist Dagmar Lauschke, is both light and touching. Lauschke writes her own English songs and gives Anglo-Irish traditional folk songs a modern twist.
Occasionally, the repertoire also includes covers of pop hits, some of which - in a new acoustic folk guise - are only recognized in the chorus. The audience can expect a varied concert with alternating groovy upbeat songs and atmospheric folk ballads. Dagmar Lauschke will be accompanied by Karsten Deutschmann (accordion, bass, keys, viola), Michael Muth (drums) and Anne Maren Falk (cello).
In October 2024, Roods & Reeds released their new album "Who Would Have Thought" with a new four-piece line-up.
Reviews of the album
"The band Roods & Reeds from the creative city of Hamburg offers a special highlight. With their latest album Who Would Have Thought, they once again demonstrate their unique diversity of sound and their infectious energy"
(Bernauer Nachrichten)
"A cozy melancholy, in which sunbeams and lightning flash now and then. The successful composition of the pieces and their unusual arrangements ensure a continuous tension"
(Folker)
"New brilliance tailor-made. Diverse in size, form and tempo. Four heads and even more ideas. What else? Folk, influenced by the North and of clear Anglo-Celtic origin. And yet modern and open to jazzy nuances, blues and vocal subtlety of every kind that can be produced with guitar, bass, viola, accordion, keyboard, cello and drums"
