Köprü

In the organizer's words:

On May 10, 2025, the Köprü exhibition will open its doors at Galerie Smend in Cologne - we cordially invite you to the vernissage from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. "Köprü", the Turkish word for "bridge", symbolizes the central theme of the exhibition: cultural diversity and the connection between Turkish and German-Turkish identity.

The exhibition was organized by Burak Can Güven and Sinem Duran, who are also represented as exhibitors. Together with communication designers Feyza Tan, Selinay Kamalı, Tolgahan Letters, Rukiye Ersoy, Sema Özbulut and Ilayda Akkay, they show an impressive range of different forms of expression - from photography, book and poster design to film and calligraphy. Each work contains personal and social perspectives on Turkish or German-Turkish culture. Poems by the poet Med Sadrija, which deal sensitively with the themes of homeland and culture, are displayed in the gallery and poetically complement the exhibition.

Köprü wants to build bridges - between cultures, generations and people. The exhibition is an invitation to exchange ideas and reflect together on cultural identity, belonging and diversity in Germany - a topic that is more topical than ever.

Food and drink will also be provided: visitors can look forward to traditional Turkish snacks and freshly brewed Çay. In the evening, singer Çağla Katiel will create a special atmosphere with live Turkish music.
