Electro pioneers Kraftwerk announce European tour
Presented by Bayern 2 Zündfunk
Following their highly successful worldwide concert tours, electro pioneers Kraftwerk have announced new tour dates for Europe. Kraftwerk combine electronic music with computer animations, videos and performance art and create a real "Gesamtkunstwerk" at their concerts!
The multimedia project Kraftwerk was founded in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider.
They founded their electronic Kling-Klang Studio in Düsseldorf, where they conceived, composed and produced all Kraftwerk albums. Kraftwerk achieved international recognition as early as the mid-1970s for their revolutionary electronic soundscapes and their musical experiments with robotics and technological innovations. With their visions of the future, Kraftwerk created the soundtrack for our digital age of the 21st century. Their legendary works, in which they used synthetic voices and computerized rhythms, had a major international influence on various music genres: from electro to hip-hop, from techno to synth-pop.
At their live concerts, Kraftwerk founder Ralf Hütter and his team realize the idea of man-machine. Starting with the retrospective of their catalog "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2012, Kraftwerk have returned to their origins in the Düsseldorf art scene of the late 1960s in recent years. The 3D concert series at MoMA New York was followed by further presentations at the Kunstsammlung NRW Düsseldorf in 2013, Tate Modern Turbine Hall (London), Akasaka Blitz (Tokyo), Opera House (Sydney), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Neue Nationalgalerie (Berlin), Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao) and Burgtheater Wien (2014).
In 2014, electro pioneer Ralf Hütter and his former partner were honored with the Grammy "Lifetime Achievement Award". In October 2021, Kraftwerk were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
In November and December 2025, Kraftwerk founder Ralf Hütter and his team Henning Schmitz, Falk Grieffenhagen, Georg Bongarts will start their new multimedia tour in Europe, including 13 cities in Germany.
