Kraut & Queer-Spaziergang

In the organizer's words:

Nature is colorful, diverse and pretty queer! Unfortunately, nature and wilderness activities often take place in a heteronormative context. This wild herb walk is intended to provide a safe space for queer people to learn about wild plants and experience nature. Together, the participants (lesbians, queers and friends) walk through Cologne's city forest, learn the basic rules of safe and careful gathering, look at the most important identification features of the plants and get to know simple processing methods. The group will also learn about queer ecology and take a closer look at the queerness of individual plants. Weather permitting, there will be an opportunity for a small picnic afterwards to get in touch with the community. Participants are welcome to bring a cup and a small snack to share (vegetarian or vegan).

Meeting point: Parking lot of the tennis court in Stadtwald Köln, a few meters into the green at the corner of Friedrich-Schmidt-Straße/Hermann-Pflaume-Straße. The Maarweg bus stop is a 5-minute walk away.

Accessibility: The event takes place outside. The path is asphalted most of the time, but there is hard, earthy ground in some places. Participants move around on the meadows next to the paths to explore the plants. If this is not possible for participants, a solution will be found. The circular path goes slightly uphill and downhill at one point and crosses train tracks. Benches can be used at regular intervals.

Important information: Please remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes and drink plenty of fluids.

The event is part of the Cologne Lesbian Visibility Weeks 2025. The Cologne Lesbian Visibility Weeks take place in cooperation with our Office for Integration and Diversity.
