Kraut & Queer - Spaziergang

In the organizer's words:

Nature is colorful, diverse and pretty queer! Just like us! Unfortunately, however, many nature and wilderness activities take place in a very heteronormative context. This wild herb walk is meant to be a safe space for queer people to learn about wild plants and experience nature (you don't have to identify as queer to participate, you can also come as a friend). Together we will walk through Cologne's city forest, learn the basic rules of safe and mindful collecting, look at the most important identification features of the plants and get to know simple processing methods. We will also look at queer ecology and take a closer look at the queerness of individual plants!

Weather permitting, there will be an opportunity for a small picnic afterwards to get in touch with the community. Feel free to bring a cushion to sit on and, if you like, even a small snack to share (vegetarian, vegan if you like).

Meeting point: Parking lot of the tennis court in the Stadtwald Cologne, a few meters into the green at the corner of Friedrich-Schmidt-Straße/Hermann-Pflaume-Straße. The "Maarweg" bus stop is a 5-minute walk away.

Information on barriers: the path is asphalted most of the time, with hard, earthy ground in some places. However, we regularly go onto the meadows next to the paths to explore the plants there. If this is not possible for you, we will certainly find a solution. The circular trail goes slightly uphill and downhill at one point and crosses train tracks. There are regular benches.
