Herbal tour as part of the exhibition Witch Hunts in Leipzig | Saxony
With PEGGY BURIAN, sociologist, storyteller
Location: Leipzig City Library, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz 10 - 11, 04107 Leipzig
On August 15, the Catholic Church celebrates the oldest Marian festival, the consecration of herbs - and thus adopted a pre-Christian custom in which medicinal herbs were blessed in order to increase their potency. The way herbs and plants were viewed and used changed with the persecution of witches. Even today, herbs are still viewed skeptically as a remedy. However, interest in them has been growing steadily in recent years. After a short introduction, we want to see which plants and herbs can be found in the vicinity of the city library on this day and how they can be used.
