They are gods to their fans worldwide, but their music seems to be possessed by the devil - more aggressive, faster, more uncompromising than others. The German band Kreator has long since climbed the Olympus of the thrash metal scene. For the first time, the film KREATOR - HATE & HOPE tells the forty-year history of the celebrated metal band, from their formation as a school band in the Ruhr area in 1982 to the big international stages of their current world tour. Then as now, they take a stand against hatred and the abysses of our society. Shrill tones, virtuoso guitar riffs and energetic drum beats process the turmoil in our civilization with great willpower and creativity. Between Hannah Arendt quotes and headless corpses, a well-orchestrated chaos poetry full of symbols of horror emerges. A musical Molotov cocktail against evil with a cathartic effect.

For her new documentary film, director Cordula Kablitz-Post ("Weil du nur einmal lebst") goes on tour with the legendary thrash metal band from the "Pott" for a year: Wacken Open Air, Tokyo, Osaka, Bangalore, Los Angeles and finally to the "Klash of the Ruhrpott" in Gelsenkirchen, where the German metal greats gather. With private archive footage and exciting interviews (Scott Ian / Anthrax, Chuck Billy / Testament, Bela B. / Die Ärzte, guitarist Phil Demmel / former Machine Head, Lars Eidinger, Maik Weichert / Heaven Shall Burn, Nergal / Behemoth, Andy Sneap) they embark on a very honest and humorous journey right into the wild beating heart of German music history.
