Private sleuth André Sartorius finds a body horribly disfigured by a shot to the head while jogging on the banks of the Rhine in Speyer. As the murder weapon is missing, the police assume it was murder. A mysterious Facebook post, however, suggests suicide. Then there are two confessions. Chief Inspector Achill becomes hopelessly entangled in the case. Meanwhile, Sartorius investigates on his own. Among the winegrowers in the wine village of Deidesheim, he comes across a web of evil machinations - and develops an unconventional hypothesis.
