Kristina Brodersen - alto | Tobias Weindorf - piano | Christian Ramond - bass | Peter Weiss - drums
In this quartet, four independent artistic personalities are at work, demonstrating creativity and a great feel for the jazz tradition in their interplay.
At the age of 14, Kristina Brodersen met her future mentor Lee Konitz at a workshop. In the years that followed, she was able to experience him time and again when he gave concerts and workshops with tenor saxophonist Peter Decker and his band. Private lessons and a visit to Lee in New York in the 1990s were further important inspirations before she began her music studies. Because Lee had his second home in Cologne in addition to New York, she was able to maintain contact with Lee. Through joint concert visits, walks and the obligatory coffee at Manufactum, she was always able to share Lee's musical thoughts. Visiting Lee again in New York in 2012 and seeing him several times at the Blue Note was another special highlight for Kristina. Today we would like to remember and celebrate Lee. We want to play his compositions, pieces from the Tristano school and originals that we have dedicated to him - and of course a few standards that he always loved so much - tonight. Come along and join us in remembering the great master, Lee Konitz!
