About our festival

Berliners are drawn to the "Tipi", in Hamburg the "Fliegenden Bauten" are a special attraction and in Braunschweig "KulturImZelt" has been enchanting visitors since 1999.

Founded as a private initiative, Kulturzelt Braunschweig e.V. attracted 10,200 spectators to the Lion City with its first "KulturImZelt" festival. The next year, there were 16,000 visitors and a new attendance record was set with each subsequent season, reaching its temporary peak in 2013 with more than 36,000 visitors. But even this record is constantly being surpassed: 42,000 visitors at 20 sold-out events is the result from 2016.

Whether jazz, pop, chansons or classical music, readings, cabaret, comedy, theater or circus of a special kind, whether renowned artists, promising newcomers or prominent entertainers: the diverse range alone is a guarantee for success.

However, the special charm of "KulturImZelt" is characterized above all by the location of the event. The tent city with its unusual decorations and unmistakable atmosphere finds its idyllic home for around four weeks every year in the picturesque location on the Oker in the Bürgerpark. This includes the 1,000-person tent as well as the tent foyer with inviting catering areas.

The cooperation with business enterprises, the commitment of all participants and the performances of top-class artists form a consortium that has created a special space with the "KulturImZelt" festival, which invites you to dream and marvel for a while.
