The exhibition is a joint project between the Kunsthalle Bremen and a specially formed group of people with and without disabilities who meet regularly at the museum.
The exhibition presents works by artists with disabilities from the historical collection of the Kunsthalle Bremen - including Vincent van Gogh, Francisco de Goya, Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec - as well as contemporary positions. The exhibits from the Kunsthalle's collection are complemented by loans from regional and international contemporary artists.
The exhibition allows visitors to reflect on how people appropriate the world through their different sensory, linguistic, emotional and social approaches. Artistic questions, aesthetics and accessibility enter into a fruitful dialog. The experience and co-creation of art and culture is made possible regardless of physical, cognitive, social or cultural conditions.
