Kunsthaus Salon: Trio Kontur

On Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 7:30 pm, the Trio Kontur will continue the popular Kunsthaus Salon series with their program of Hungarian Romantic music.

Trio Kontur will be playing romantic chamber music from Hungary: let yourself be whisked away on a musical journey to the early years of the twentieth century and listen to three works for string trio in the intimate atmosphere of the Kunsthaus. The presentation by cellist Mathieu Jocqué brings you closer to the zeitgeist and culture of the era. In the concert you will hear the well-known Serenade by Ernö von Dohnanyi, the Intermezzo by Zoltan Kodály and the surprising and spectacular String Trio by Leo Weiner.

Trio Kontur - these are: Caroline Frey: violin, Ainis Kasperavicius: viola and Mathieu Jocqué: cello - three musicians from three European countries who are fully committed to chamber music. Constantly searching for their own ensemble language and a specific sound and color, they are always keen to help their audience enjoy extraordinary chamber music.

The string trio, perhaps known as the little sister of the string quartet, is a particularly
is a particularly challenging and versatile form of chamber music. The musicians move between the poles of soloistic playing and dense harmonic ensemble playing. In comparison to the string quartet, the individual parts are more versatile and almost equal. In this way, the three different personalities of the musicians come to the fore in Trio Kontur, forming a dynamic musical unit at the same time.

All three have many years of experience in various formations with
experience with chamber music ensembles. Caroline Frey primarily in the
Elementi piano trio, Ainis Kasperavicius in the Et Arsis piano quartet and Mathieu Jocqué in the Evenos string quartet. All ensembles and players were influenced by Professor Andreas Reiner, whose unique musical work continues to inspire Trio Kontur to this day.
