Künstlergespräch Dietrich Wenzel

In his current exhibition at the White House, Dietrich Wenzel shows what he understands by "real existing poetry". Under this title, 60 drawings, some of them large-format, can be seen, which approach their subjects with absolute attention to detail and precision. But what drives an artist to depict his subject to perfection, to push the boundaries of drawing, which often causes amazement and astonishment when viewed?

Dietrich Wenzel, who was born in Berlin in 1943 and has lived in Leipzig since childhood, explores this question in today's interview. We will also talk about a long and creative life as an artist in turbulent and moving times, about breaks, highs and new beginnings.

The exhibition is open today until 9 pm.
