Kunstroute Ehrenfeld @ Galerie Dietrich: MALTE VAN DE WATER // gems on a wire

In the organizer's words:

We are delighted to be taking part in Kunstroute Ehrenfeld for the third year in a row and to be showing Malte van de Water's second solo exhibition at Galerie Dietrich this year!

Malte van de Water, born in Düsseldorf in 1990, studied at the Kunstakademie in Münster and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. He has lived and worked as a freelance artist in Düsseldorf since 2019.

In the exhibition "gems on a wire", Malte will be showing a series of small-format works that were created very recently this year.

Malte's purely abstract paintings are far removed from figurative references. He is not interested in abstracting something familiar, but rather in a radical style that is minimalized in terms of form.

While his last exhibition in 2023 still focused on concrete form, in "gems on a wire" the focus shifts more and more to the painterly origin that is so important to him. The colors are applied to the canvas more freely, sometimes wildly and gesturally, but are always held in check by the forms typical of his style, which are characterized by their provocatively digital character.
