»Kurdisches Kunst- und Kulturfestival«

In the organizer's words:

Under the title "Turning Point in Syria - New Future for the Kurds", we invite you to join us for four days from June 6 to 9 to celebrate the rich diversity of Kurdish art and culture.

The focus of this year's festival is the fall of the Assad dictatorship on December 8, 2024, which is seen as a historic turning point. The overthrow marked the end of more than five decades of systematic repression against the Kurds, but other ethnic and religious groups such as the Suryoye, Assyrians, Circassians, Yezidis and Armenians also suffered under state oppression.

This overthrow opened up new prospects for the Kurds and other ethnic groups in Syria. Nevertheless, they are still caught between hope and uncertainty, as no one knows what the future will bring them. At this year's festival, we are taking this historic turning point as an opportunity to reflect on the past, present and future.

The Kurdish Art and Culture Festival in Berlin 2025 will feature 50 guests from a wide range of fields - literature, music, painting, visual arts, caricatures, film, theater, journalism and Kurdish language. There will also be a bazaar with Kurdish and oriental products such as wine, musical instruments, traditional dresses and accessories. There will also be a bookshop with Kurdish and Arabic books at the festival. In addition, there will be various exhibitions, workshops and children's activities.
