Learn to paddle with us!

What do we do?

We'll give you an easy start to paddling: you'll learn how to get in and out of the water, paddle and the basics of safety

What are the prerequisites?

No previous experience is necessary, but you should be able to swim.

What are the prices?

30,- € per participant (free for children and teenagers under 18)

If you fancy getting into a kayak, finding out how different boats behave in the water or simply trying out paddling for yourself, then our beginners' course is just right for you!

Contents of the course:

• carrying/transporting the boats
• Getting in and out of the boat correctly
• different paddling techniques
• Safety on the water

Aims of the course:

• To discover the joy of kayaking and club life
• Learning the basic kayak-specific techniques

Meeting point:

10 a.m., KKM boathouse in Stammheim

Am Rheinacker 45, 51061 Cologne

Return:

Around 4 p.m. at the boathouse in Stammheim

Venue:

Fühlinger See

Procedure:

After a short round of getting to know each other, we load the boats together and get them ready for transportation.

We split up into the cars so that we move as few cars as possible and drive together to the Fühlinger See.

Here we make all the necessary adjustments to the boats, learn the basic techniques in a short theory session and then head out onto the water.

We do a few laps of the lake, try out different paddling techniques and swap boats to get to know the differences between the various boat types.

After returning together, there will be a final round, time for questions and to discuss further steps if you are interested in becoming a member.

Prerequisite:

Swimming skills and a normal physical condition

What to bring:

Comfortable sportswear (quick-drying, light functional clothing), rain jacket, change of clothes, water shoes (or shoes you can go into the water in), towel, sun protection (headgear and sun cream), snack for in between and drinks.
