A friendship story of an odd couple in 2011 - Kurt Prödel in the taz Talk at the Leipzig Book Fair.

Summer 2011: Klapper, 16 years old, spends his vacation alone in front of his computer. But on the first day of school, Bär enters his life. She is tall, strong and unperturbed by social conventions - the first person who doesn't treat Klapper like an outsider. The introverted gamer with long hair and creaky joints finds an ally in her who shares his passion for gaming and gives him strength.

As their friendship grows, Klapper develops feelings for Bear. But a fateful day approaches and changes everything. Years later, the memories of that summer shake up his orderly life.

With lemon iced tea, Counter-Strike and Kollegah lyrics, "Klapper" tells of friendship, loss and the challenges of growing up. A gripping portrait of toxic masculinity and the search for identity between the virtual and real world.

🐾 Kurt Prödel is an artist and author. He has made rap music videos, produced audio books and appeared on the late-night show "Studio Schmitt". He is the drummer in the punk band The Screenshots and lives and works in Cologne. His literary debut has been published by Ullstein Verlag.

🐾 Doris Akrap moderates this taz Talk. Doris Akrap has worked as an editor, author and columnist at taz since 2008 and is currently head of the society section. She is also a publicist, juror, moderator and board member at Pen Berlin.
