Hamburg filmmaker Gerd Roscher follows in the footsteps of his ancestor, the explorer Albrecht Roscher, who traveled to East Africa in 1858 and is considered the "discoverer" of Dar es Salaam in the colonial narrative. Using letters, archive material and his impressions, he traces his journey and embarks on a new exploration.
