Kurzvorträge: „Es sind immer die Menschen“. Der Fotograf Henry Maitek. Mit Dr. Christiane Twiehaus

In the organizer's words:

Henry Maitek was born in Königshütte (Chorzów) in 1922. As a Jew, he spent four years in various Nazi concentration and labor camps. After his liberation, he began a new life, which he dedicated primarily to photography.
In his photographs, he focused on people. As a silent observer, he succeeded in capturing unadulterated moments of everyday life in Cologne and Israel in an incomparable way. He also accompanied exhibitions, such as the Monumenta Judaica in Cologne in 1963 and 1964, which was one of the first exhibitions in Germany after the Shoah to deal with Jewish history. As part of the Monumenta Judaica, Cotta-Verlag published a three-part audio-visual show on the subject of Judaica. Henry Maitek contributed 96 photographs on slides.

Christiane Twiehaus will present Henry Maitek and his work in several short lectures between 4 and 8 pm. Just drop by!
