La Laliki Land by kainkollektiv, sputnic, Łukasz Stawarczyk / Teatr Stary Kraków, tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg Co-production of Ruhrfestspiele with kainkollektiv
World premiere
"La Laliki Land" is located between film and theater. At the center is the Polish actor Łukasz Stawarczyk, ensemble member of the renowned Kraków Stary Teatr, who has been working intensively with the Bochum-based theater artists of kainkollektiv for over ten years.
In 2018, Łukasz acquired a dacha in Laliki, a small village in the border region between Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Inspired by the French priest monk, hermit and martyr Charles de Foucauld, he has since been handing out keys to his mountain hut and inviting people to use this place freely for themselves - whether for relaxation or for communal activities. Around 500 people have now visited the hut. It has become a special place in a region where strangers are often not welcome.
In "La Laliki Land", kainkollektiv tells the stories of this special place and its visitors - from the perspective of Łukasz. While he invites people into his hut, an unexpected incident leads him on an uncertain journey away from Laliki. He travels south along the so-called "Balkan route" to Athens, crossing borders that separate many people in Europe.
In this production, kainkollektiv is once again working with filmmaker Nils Voges (sputnic) in the border area between theater, performance and film as part of the Excellence Fund for Theater of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. They tell of the familiar and the strange, of Europe and its borders and an almost utopian place of encounter and community.
