Landgraf/Lefeber/Koch

The Landgraf/Lefeber/Koch trio plays American old-time music, folk and country songs, jazz pieces and original compositions by Steve Landgraf and Max Koch. The aim is to present the music in a traditional way on the one hand and to use it as a basis for free improvisation on the other. Each band member with his own musical socialization thus has the opportunity to influence the musical creative process from the moment. This results in a mixture of straightforward sounds and wild, raw improvisations in a modernized string band setting.

The band is the current project of Bamberg-born musician Steve Landgraf. Inspired by the music of Ornette Coleman and his folk music-like compositions, he has intensively studied American old-time music and US folk music. Due to the different musical backgrounds of the band members, it was great fun for the trio to play together and gain experience with this music, which is rarely played in Germany. The joy is contagious! Line-up: Steve Landgraf (guitar, banjo, vocals), Sophia Lefeber (vocals, violin) and Max Koch (guitar, banjo).
