Landtag öffnet am Sonntag – Ausstellungen zu ukrainischer Architektur und Kunstwerken von Grundschulklassen

Explore the state parliament spontaneously and without prior registration: Next Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Parliament on the Rhine invites you to take guided tours and discovery tours via smartphone. Visiting the heart of democracy in North Rhine-Westphalia is free of charge. Four different exhibitions are currently on display in parliament.

"The state parliament is the heart of democracy in North Rhine-Westphalia. The state parliament building offers an architectural experience and invites visitors to engage with current politics and the workings of parliament. You can experience democracy first-hand in the state parliament. We are also currently showing exhibitions on the topics of children's and women's rights, discrimination in sport and the architectural heritage of Ukraine," says André Kuper, President of the State Parliament.

"Children have rights! - Draw or craft why your rights are important". Under this motto, almost 120 primary school classes from all over North Rhine-Westphalia have created their own paintings and handicrafts. The occasion is the 75th anniversary of the North Rhine-Westphalia state constitution, which is being celebrated this year. The works of the winning classes from Rösrath, Gescher, Cologne and Düsseldorf as well as 20 other works of art from the competition will be presented in an exhibition in the Bürgerhalle.

In the Wandelhalle, visitors can also visit an exhibition showing the plans of Ukrainian architects to preserve Ukraine's architectural heritage. A second exhibition in the Wandelhalle shows the work of the Pink against Racism campaign group.

In addition, an exhibition on women who have helped shape North Rhine-Westphalia as educators and politicians, painters, resistance fighters and scientists can be seen in the Bürgerhalle.

Visitors can discover the state parliament next Sunday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on a 45-minute guided tour or individually on a smartphone tour with their own cell phone. Those interested can look into the plenary chamber and visit the parliamentary group and committee rooms and gain an insight into the center of state politics and everyday political life in the parliament of Germany's largest federal state. On a 240-degree panoramic screen, a film provides insights into the work of the members of parliament and the president and vice-presidents of the state parliament as well as interesting facts about the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
